I view myself as a visual copywriter, using both words and design to share my message with the world. …

Here’s what I learned from the 3 E’s.

There are two types of people in the world: those who are lost and those who know they’re lost.

The moment I felt I belonged to the second group was magical. It meant I could start doing something about it.

My Exploration of Essentialism

Hearing of Essentialism was a true breakthrough moment for me.

As I recently resigned from my job and took a leap of faith, life is currently completely built upon my own decisions. Some days are great, others I feel steerless and aimless.

Coming across Essentialism was exactly the mental framework I was so desperately searching for. …

Building your business in public is sharing stories

About your wins and losses. About being authentic and putting yourself in a vulnerable position. It’s assembling a community around your cause.

Building in public welcomes transparency and storytelling into your business. As people love stories, you stumbled upon the best marketing strategy ever. With your business playing the lead role, the story unfolds itself in front of the eyes of your audience. This is pure, digital gold.

Do it well and your momentum with an enthusiastic community generates an enormous amount of organic word of mouth — the gold standard for marketing.

Sure, failure always lies around the corner…

I get to have the lead role in my own play.

I’m Not a Quitter

That’s what I had to tell myself after resigning from my recently started consultancy business.

Barely 2 months ago, I quit my full-time job at a European tech scale up to pursue my own dreams:

I would start as an independent consultant to help businesses optimize their customer service operations.

After 4 weeks, I realized that that wasn’t my passion.

Dishonest with Myself

I hear you think “how can you find out after only 4 weeks?

It’s okay, I judged myself the same way.

It has been a tough road — judging myself for not doing the required work versus listening to my…

Creators don’t wait around for a favorable outcome; they create the outcome they want. And, so should you.

The moment you start creating, you’ll see your life transform. You limit the time spent on consuming content and you increase the time spent creating. You begin to see opportunity in every corner. Your mental health, thumbs, and bank account thank you for it.

Everything you know is built upon iteration. Every, unique idea you think you have, is based on something else. Ideas that are radically different in every aspect are rare. Embrace this knowledge and use it to your advantage…

Writing can be an unfaithful game

Photo by Anthony Tran on Unsplash

You tell people you’re a writer but are you really?

Not knowing what you should write about, not scheduling dedicated writing time, and letting your ego get in the way of the output. Perhaps, you made some money writing online, but does that make you a writer?

I don’t think so.

Don’t focus too much on the outcome, while everything you can control is the output. And so far, the output has been the problem. Without output, there can’t be an outcome.

Before you even put your fingers on the keyboard, you already think about the results the article will…

If the Internet isn’t making you richer or smarter, what are you doing here?

Photo by Matias Islas on Unsplash

You should focus on complementing the Internet, instead of lurking.

The Internet is your playground and it’s your obligation to leave it better than you found it. If the internet isn’t making you richer or smarter, for real, what are you doing here?

You’re welcome, but add some value while you’re here.

You’re handed endless possibilities. It’s a shame to let them go to waste.

Our world is becoming more digitized by the day, and it’s your obligation to create your own digital home. Own your spot before someone else does. The Internet doesn’t need more lurkers. We need game-changers.

#4. Everything you create is an asset.

Photo by Javier Esteban on Unsplash

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be free and independent.

In every professional job I have had, I looked for ways to create my own role. I took action, responsibility and combined this with actual results. The last part was crucial in convincing my superiors that the freedom I got was justified. Yet, no matter the amount of freedom I acquired, it always felt wrong to work for someone else’s dreams. I knew I had to change something.

There was only one problem:

I never saw myself as an entrepreneur. …

A story of how I traveled 10,000 km while trying to build my online business

Photo by Peggy Anke on Unsplash

I feel anxiety coming up while writing this.

Anxious about the stuff that hasn’t been written yet, not created, and not manifested. Unconsciously, I put a lot of pressure on myself.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t complain. I moved to Costa Rica almost four weeks ago and it has been surreal ever since. I found a home in the small, beautiful village of Sámara, on the Pacific Coast. Compared to the winter cold in Amsterdam, it’s a paradise. I will spare you the pictures.

Normally, when I travel, I always look for the next destination — chasing the next…
